I’ll never forget the day I started—June 3, 2024. As a former D1 athlete, I had honestly lost my fitness self years ago. Life got busy and heavy—between being a teacher, a foster mom, and all the beautiful chaos of raising kids in travel baseball and softball, I realized I wasn’t feeling like me anymore. I wanted to feel strong again, and I was growing uncomfortable in my own skin. Life in your 40s is stressful, and foster care, while beautiful, can be heavy at times. GRIT has been a huge blessing in helping me carry that weight in a healthier way.
Burpees… just kidding (sort of). Honestly, I love Fridays! Mobility is my favorite—and also the area I know I need to work on most. It pushes me and reminds me of the importance of balance in strength, flexibility, and endurance.
Just go. Do. Do what you can when you can. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t make it every day. Aim for at least 3 days a week—you’ll see progress. Some weeks, I can’t get to the gym as often as I’d like, but something is always better than nothing. There’s no such thing as perfect, and there’s definitely no “there.” Enjoy the journey—enjoy getting stronger, enjoy the community, and enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of becoming a better version of yourself.
I’m a foster mom, a teacher, and a big believer in leaving the world better than I found it. My faith is at the center of everything I do, and I hope people see that in me. Also, fun fact—I’m way more competitive than I probably should be (hello, travel ball mom life!).
I’d love to be in the top 3 of the GRIT Games—that would be really cool. But honestly? I’m already crushing it by just showing up, trying, and pushing myself. Every day I walk through those doors is a win.
